It is also a great spot for clams and scallops. PEI hosts a fall food festival ( www.fallflavors.ca ), an island wide culinary festival. The island offers fresh seafood, vegetables, wild blueberries, local wine and much more to make your island cuisine perfect. Cooking at Red Sand Beach House will be a treat with its beautiful kitchen. It includes stainless steel appliances, plenty of counter space with a large center island, and all the kitchen gadgets and cookware needed to make fabulous island meals. Another cooking option is the charcoal/wood chip burning Weber grill, a few steps from the porch.
The deck and screened-in porch are great places to enjoy meals. Enjoy a cool drink from the deck or the porch while gazing at the water after a day of exploring PEI or relax with your favorite book or listening to music. As you relax or bask in the sun, you may see great blue herons, patiently waiting for their catch of the day, hares, munching on plants and flowers, and bald eagles soaring above the beach, as well as blue jays, cormorants, sandpipers, hummingbirds and a variety of other birds (there are 333 species of birds) that are home to PEI.
Panmure Provincial Park and Beach (http://pointseastcoastaldrive.com/things-do/entry/panmure-island-provincial-park-beach), a few minutes away, is a white sand beach that boasts a sandbar grill, change rooms and showers and on duty life guards. The beach in front of the beach house is a red sand beach and it is great for swimming, walking, gathering shells and drift wood, digging for clams and scallops, gathering mussels or searching for sea glass and arrowheads. It is also a great spot to launch our kayaks for a tour of St. Mary's Bay. And when you return from the beach, the outdoor shower will come in handy for sandy feet.
