When on your PEI vacation be sure to visit our lighthouses, railway museum, fishery museum, local craft shops, clam digging, golf courses, or biking/walking the Confederation Trail. Lots to see and do close to this perfect PEI cottage. The east Point Lighthouse and the Souris lighthouse are open for you to learn all about the lighthouses that protect our coast. If you are in shape you can climb the tower at East Point and experience a magnificent view of this end of the island.
Elmira Railway Museum is 20 minutes from the PEI cottage it tells the history of the island railway and is also the end of the line for the Confederation Trail. The Confederation Trail travels right across the island where the old railway track was located. The PEI Government at the end of the railway days here on Prince Edward Island took up the tracks and made a beautiful walking, biking trail for all to use. Elmira is where the tracks ended in the east, which is where the museum is located. Along with these beautiful trails you will find that the Souris area has many red dirt roads, also great for walking, biking or driving. These old roads offer some incredible photo opportunities with the large old tree foliage, which make natural tunnels for you to enjoy.
For a couple of very unique island restaurants, try visiting Breakwater 21 just 5 minutes away or Inn at Bay Fortune just 10 minutes away, they both have a water view, while you dine. If you like to cook then PEI will be a paradise for you with all the fresh seafood, meats and island vegetables. The fresh seafood is in abundance and easy to get in Souris. Try the Colville Bay oysters fresh from the water only 5 minutes from the beach house. If you take your PEI vacation in May or June you can go to the wharf and get some fresh lobsters, should you miss the season don't worry there are plenty around for you to buy in the summer months too. The local grocery stores in Souris carry fresh island meats, seafood and vegtables. Also in the area you'll find seafood stores, Farmers Markets and roadside vegetables stands. With our local ingredients you'll be able to prepare the best island cuisine.
If a trip to Charlottetown is needed, Souris is just 45 minutes from our historical city.
As you can see Anne's Beach House in Prince Edward Island is a great place to start your island vacation...
